Co.As.It. Seniors Week shows in March 2015

Co.As.It. celebrated Seniors Week 2015 by hosting three concerts in two locations in Metro Sydney. Two concerts were held at Club Burwood RSL on the 17th and 19th of March and one was held at Club Marconi on 18th March.

“The Flavours of Italy Show” boasted three Italian singer/ entertainers of international repute who included in their repertoires:Italian ballads; folk and pop songs of the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. The MC for all three events was the hugely popular Italian radio host, Paolo Rajo.

The concerts drew a combined crowd of around 800 older Italian Australians who very much enjoyed the music and the humour of the shows.

Claudio Sandrelli evoked emotive sentiment with his renditions of a string of well known (to Italians) and beloved Neapolitan songs. Italians are very fond of Italy’s famous musical talents and musical history born from the daily human drama that is Naples. The city of Naples has been a wellspring of such popular tunes as “Pigliate Na Pastiglia”(Take Another Tablet) and the Mario Merola repertoire including “Aia, Aia, Aia La Vechiaia (Oh, Oh, Oh, Old Age) which were delivered with gusto by Tony Di Marti.

Francesca Pansironi, charismatically and powerfully delivered a host of well loved tunes from all regions of Italy including the war time ballads remembered by most Italian Australians over 70 years old. Francesca,Claudio and Tony together also sang some favourites from the songlist of Albano and Romina- a performing couple from the sixities and seventies Italian popular music scene.
